About the school

Eighty years of teaching one neighborhood's children.

The story of Shivdatrai High School is the story of Pathergatti itself — one classroom, one batch of students, one generation at a time.

Our history

Founded on a shortage, not a surplus.

Shivdatrai High School opened its doors in 1943, at a time when private schooling in the old city was out of reach for most working families. It was built to close that gap — not as a lesser alternative to expensive schools, but as proof that quality teaching and low fees could coexist.

Eight decades on, the building has changed, the syllabus has changed, but the founding idea hasn't: every child in this neighborhood deserves a real shot at a good education.

What we stand for

Our mission, in three parts.

Access first

We set fees around what families can pay, not around what the market allows.

Real standards

Affordable doesn't mean reduced. Our curriculum and faculty are held to the same bar as any school in the city.

A lasting community

Students, staff, and families who stay connected to the school long after graduation.
